Welcome to Grand Valley Minor Soccer
Grand Valley Minor Soccer is a Grassroots Soccer program open to youth ages 3-13. The program focuses on creating a fun space with the best possible opportunity for learning and development.
The 2026 season began May 6 and will conclude on July 29. Except for July 1, soccer will take place every Wednesday at 60 Main St.North in Grand Valley, Ont. on the fields behind the Grand Valley Community Centre.

2026 Season FAQ
When does the season start/end?
Wednesdays - May 6 - July 29, 2026
- Please note:
- Families will be invited to pick up their jerseys at Jersey Day on Thursday April 30, 2026 from 6 - 7 p.m. at the Grand Valley Community Centre.
- Photo day will be held in a drop-in format on Wednesday June 24 at the Grand Valley Community Centre from 5 - 8:30 p.m. Please note there is no make up day for photos.
- There is no soccer on Canada Day, Wednesday July 1.
- There will be no formal banquet. Year end medals will be handed out on July 29 at the final session.

What is included?
Each participant from Parent & Tot/U4-U8 is provided with a Tim Horton's sponsored soccer jersey, shorts, socks, a soccer ball, a year end medal and photo momento. The balls provided for registration are to stay at home for home play; please do not bring the ball to soccer.
The teams in U10-U13 are provided with a jersey, year end medal and a photo momento.
My child no longer wants to participate. Can I have a refund?
Refund requests will be accepted until March 21, 2026. You may receive a full refund, less an administrative fee of $5 per registration.
Do parents have to stay during soccer?
Yes - Parents expected to be on the field for the duration of their child’s soccer. Bring a chair, picnic blanket and enjoy the game! Siblings and family members are welcome to spectate.
What do I need to bring to soccer?
In general, players in U5 and up may wear cleats and shin guards if they choose. Players in Parent and Tot are asked to wear running shoes only. Bring a water bottle and dress for the weather (e.g. long sleeve under jerseys on colder days).
What happens during soccer?
The first half is dedicated to a practice with a warm-up followed by age-appropriate drills and activities. The second half will be dedicated to an informal match where youth will be split into teams using pinnies to play age appropriate match formats (Ex: 3v3, 4v4, 5v5) as outlined in the Canada Soccer Grassroots Standards. This will allow coaches to ensure youth have as much ‘ball time’ as possible.
What happens if the weather is bad? How do I know if soccer is cancelled?
GVMS has an inclement weather policy based on Ontario Soccer. In summary, if we hear thunder during soccer, an announcement will be made via megaphone and we must be off the fields immediately.
If the forecast is calling for poor weather, including high heat, excessive rain or poor air quality, GVMS aims to make a decision and communicate any cancellations to you as early as possible. We are run entirely by volunteers so thank you for your patience and understanding.
What if I need to miss a week?
We know this happens as it’s summer. Please consider emailing your coaches to give them a heads up.
